More information about Prof. De Monie can be found here. This year’s TOC Europe focused on the Container Supply Chain. Developed in collaboration with Containerisation International and the Global Institute of Logistics, the TOC Container Supply Chain (CSC) added a new dimension for the international container shipper and BCO communities. ![]() The Global Institute of Logistics hosted the first of three brainstorms planned for 2011 with Big Box Shippers across the world. These brainstorms will be part of the Institute’s primary research into the challenges facing shippers in working with the global maritime container supply chain. The remaining two brain storms will take place in September and November in Dubai and Panama. The sessions are specifically designed for Big Box Shippers and participation is reserved for beneficial cargo owners who control in excess of 25,000 TEU annually. It is anticipated that when completed the research will reflect the combined views of in excess of 3 million TEU’s globally. This was the first time that Big Box Shippers contributed to such an initiative and as such our research and recommendations will have particular influence on publication.

TOC Europe 2010, ValenciaThe events of 2008 - 2010 have shaken fundamental assumptions about how the world works. Now, the shape of recovery to come will lay critical foundations for global container trade in the new decade to come. Understanding the pattern of recovery, the new economic, financial and regulatory climate, and how these will impact the business of container shipping, ports and terminals in a post-crisis world was the central focus of the TOC conference, held in Valencia 8th-10th June. On the eve of the TOC conference, The Global Institute of Logistics held its 5th Annual European Chapter Dinner. This opportunity was used to launch the Port Cluster Governance Committee (PCGC), a joint project between The Global Institute of Logistics and Fundación Valenciaport. We were pleased to welcome representatives from PD Ports of the UK, Nam Ports of Namibia, Port Nelson of New Zealand and the Port Authority of Peru, who were signatories at the event. The PCGC aims to build a transferable model based on Best in Class benchmarking that when implemented will allow global port controllers to successfully bring together all port cluster stakeholders to raise quality levels, maximize profit and movement of container cargo.
