October 3rd, 2006: The Institute formally launched its European chapter at an industry dinner held during the European 3PL Conference in Brussels. Chief executive Kieran Ring said: “With the Maritime Logistics Council we have tried to bring together people who are passionate about logistics and passionate about the global supply chain. They are opinion-leaders and opinion-formers. We want them to help us accumulate and share knowledge, and to strengthen relationships across the industry.”
He pointed out that, as the supply chain has lengthened, everyone involved has become increasingly reliant on good relationships. He reminded the audience that the Institute’s founding chairman, Bob Delaney, said a decade ago that relationships would drive the logistics industry forward.
